Tom looking mighty dapper at today’s BAFTA’s.
After a very long wait, we finally got the trailer for John Hillcoat’s “Lawless“ a couple of days ago, and while it was a bit more conventional that we were expecting, it should be remembered that trailers for Hillcoat’s films have never done them justice in the slightest, and with the cast he’s got lined up here, there’s a strong reason why this remains very high on our Must See List for 2012.
With the Cannes Film Festival around the corner, The Weinstein Company have dropped a handful of new images from the movie, giving us a better look at the characters we’ll be meeting. Tom Hardy and Shia LaBoeuf lead the pack as two of three Bondurant brothers, who build a bootlegging empire in Franklin County, Virginia. Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska play their respective love interests, while hot on their tail is a special agent, with Guy Pearce looking like he’s going to steal every scene of the movie.
After walking the red carpet in France next month, “Lawless” will unload into theaters on August 31st.

For those who aren’t aware, the drama formerly known as The Wettest County in the World has since been titled Lawless, and while that’s the same as a forthcoming Terrence Malick film, the director gave the okay for the production to take his title. Now we finally have an official first look at John Hillcoat’s film about three brothers, played by Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and “The Chicago Code” star Jason Clarke, who created the big city gangsters. Brazen and fearless, these young rebel brothers helped build the American Dream in this exuberant tale of what was to become crime’s first major gold rush.
John Hillcoat (The Road, The Proposition) is directing the Lawless from a script by Nick Cave which is based on Matt Bondurant’s novel The Wettest County in the World. The film follows a bootlegging gang (Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Jason Clarke) in Depression-era Franklin County, Virginia, threatened by authorities who want a cut of their profits. Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Guy Pearce, Noah Taylor and up and comer Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) also star in the film which The Weinstein Company will bring to the 2012 Venice Film Festival before it goes to theaters on August 31st this year.

Felt like reposting this. They’re so silly. :)
